Achieving a safer, more successful pour when using a concrete pump on the job isn’t just happenstance; it requires determined collaboration from the entire pour team. In this session, you’ll learn how to prepare, what to expect, and most importantly, how to identify potential hazards that can lead to an unfortunate and oftentimes avoidable accident. Specific topics include:
    - Pre-pour planning – size and type of placing equipment, special needs
    - Site preparation for placement and ready-mixed access
    - Communication – hand signals, spotter responsibilities
    - Mix designs – ensuring a pumpable mix
    - Hazards such as entrapped air, power lines, and tipping
    - What you should expect from your concrete pumper
Speaker Biography:
Tom O’Malley is Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Brundage Bone Concrete Pumping and has more than four decades of experience in the concrete construction industry. He began his career with Rotec Industries, where he specialized in concrete placing systems, before joining Schwing America in 1997. During his 25-year tenure at Schwing, Tom held several leadership positions, including Director of National Account Sales, Director of Product Development, National Sales Manager, and Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
A longtime industry advocate, Tom has been actively involved with the American Concrete Pumping Association for more than 25 years, including six years as a board member, and is a past president of the Concrete Pump Manufacturers Association. He joined Brundage Bone Concrete Pumping in 2021, where he continues to help drive strategic growth and industry innovation.
