SUMMARY:World Premiere: Stronger than the Silence: The Road to Recovery Begins with a Voice
DESCRIPTION:In May\, ASCC will be adjusting our regular Safety Webinar schedule to support an important industry-wide initiative in partnership with the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention. In place of our typical session\, we encourage all members to participate in CIASP’s upcoming webinar on May 7.  This program aligns closely with our shared commitment to mental health\, recovery\, and total worker well-being across the construction industry. We are proud to partner with CIASP in promoting this meaningful initiative. Elevating these conversations is an important step forward for our industry\, and your participation helps ensure continued progress in supporting the people who build our communities. Even a quick comment or reshare helps expand the reach of this message across the construction community. \n🗓️May 7\, 2026\n🕛11:00 AM (CST)\n➡️Live on Zoom\n✅https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_zrdyeZEbTfK3tzGwb4xmIg#/registration

SUMMARY:ASCC Monthly Safety Roundtable- Physiology\, Performance & Protection: The Human Side of Heat
DESCRIPTION:Many of our Monthly Safety Roundtable topics come directly from conversations with our members or discussions during our SRMC meetings. \nAlthough earlier this summer we discussed heat illness prevention programs and field controls\, this month’s conversation takes a different approach. We’ll be exploring the physiological effects of working in the heat and what we’re learning about electrolyte and sodium balance\, body fueling\, medications like GLP-1s\, skin issues\, fatigue\, recovery\, and how heat can affect concentration\, decision-making\, and overall worker performance. \nSeveral recent member experiences have challenged some of the traditional “drink more water” thinking\, and I think this will be a great opportunity to share lessons learned and discuss where our industry’s understanding continues to evolve. \nCome prepared to share your experiences\, lessons learned\, or questions. Your participation is what makes these roundtables so valuable. \nZOOM link

SUMMARY:Why "Meets Design" Doesn't Always Stop Slab Cracking & Joint Spalling with Robert Rodden - Zoom Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Many concrete slabs are still designed using outdated methods that focus on load capacity while overlooking the factors that most often cause cracking and joint spalling\, including slab curling\, load transfer\, and subgrade support. This webinar explains why that gap exists and introduces a modern\, predictive modeling approach that more accurately reflects real-world slab performance. Through comparisons with traditional methods\, including ACI 360\, attendees will learn how better design analysis can improve reliability\, reduce liability\, and identify more cost-effective solutions.\n\nLearning Objectives\n    - Understand the primary causes of slab cracking and joint spalling\, including curling\, joint load transfer\, and subgrade support.\n    - Compare predictive modeling with traditional design methods\, including ACI 360\, and recognize the limitations of conventional approaches.\n    - Learn how modern analysis tools can evaluate slab performance in seconds and support design-build solutions.\n    - Gain practical strategies for discussing slab design\, reliability\, and risk with owners\, designers\, and project teams.\nZOOM link
