DESCRIPTION:Many of our Monthly Safety Roundtable topics come directly from conversations with our members or discussions during our SRMC meetings. \nAlthough earlier this summer we discussed heat illness prevention programs and field controls\, this month’s conversation takes a different approach. We’ll be exploring the physiological effects of working in the heat and what we’re learning about electrolyte and sodium balance\, body fueling\, medications like GLP-1s\, skin issues\, fatigue\, recovery\, and how heat can affect concentration\, decision-making\, and overall worker performance. \nSeveral recent member experiences have challenged some of the traditional “drink more water” thinking\, and I think this will be a great opportunity to share lessons learned and discuss where our industry’s understanding continues to evolve. \nCome prepared to share your experiences\, lessons learned\, or questions.
